**A CALL TO BIBLICAL CLARITY: EXAMINING TRADITIONAL TEACHINGS IN LIGHT OF SCRIPTURE**

Beloved, as earnest seekers of truth, we must follow the Berean example of searching the Scriptures daily to see if these things are so (Acts 17:11). Let us prayerfully examine several areas where tradition has diverged from biblical teaching.

**I. THE NATURE OF GOD: TRINITY VS. FATHER-SON RELATIONSHIP**

*Traditional View*: God exists as three co-equal persons in one substance.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- John 17:3: "that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent"
- 1 Corinthians 11:3: "the head of Christ is God"
- John 14:28: "My Father is greater than I"
- 1 Timothy 2:5: "one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus"

The Scripture reveals a Father-Son relationship, not a triune mystery. The Holy Spirit is God's power, not a third person (Acts 1:8; Romans 8:11).

**II. THE AFTERLIFE: HEAVEN/IMMEDIATE REWARD VS. RESURRECTION**

*Traditional View*: Souls go immediately to heaven or hell at death.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- John 3:13: "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven"
- Acts 2:29, 34: "David is both dead and buried...David did not ascend into the heavens"
- 1 Corinthians 15:20-23: "Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming"
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16: "the dead in Christ will rise first"

The hope of Scripture is resurrection at Christ's return, not an immortal soul ascending at death.

**III. SALVATION: INSTANT CONVERSION VS. LIFELONG PROCESS**

*Traditional View*: One-time decision guarantees eternal security.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- Philippians 2:12: "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling"
- Hebrews 6:4-6: "impossible...to renew them again to repentance" if they fall away
- 2 Peter 1:5-10: "add to your faith virtue...if you do these things you will never stumble"
- Revelation 2:10: "be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life"

Salvation involves ongoing faithfulness, not a one-time event.

**IV. GOD'S LAW: ABOLISHED VS. FULFILLED**

*Traditional View*: Christ abolished the law; Christians need not keep commandments.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- Matthew 5:17-19: "not to destroy but to fulfill...not one jot or tittle will pass"
- 1 John 3:4: "sin is lawlessness"
- 1 John 2:3-4: "by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments"
- Revelation 12:17: "the dragon...went to make war...who keep the commandments of God"

Christ magnified the law (Isaiah 42:21); He didn't abolish it.

**V. HOLY DAYS: PAGAN ORIGINS VS. GOD'S APPOINTED TIMES**

*Traditional View*: Christmas, Easter, etc., are acceptable Christian celebrations.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- Leviticus 23:2: "The feasts of the Lord which you shall proclaim"
- Colossians 2:16-17: Shadow of things to come
- John 7:37: Jesus kept the Feast of Tabernacles
- Acts 18:21: "I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem"

God's holy days reveal His plan of salvation; man-made holidays obscure it.

---

**VI. THE GOSPEL: GO TO HEAVEN VS. KINGDOM OF GOD ON EARTH**

*Traditional View*: Gospel is about going to heaven when you die.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- Mark 1:14-15: "Jesus came...preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God"
- Matthew 5:5: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth"
- Revelation 5:10: "made us kings and priests...and we shall reign on the earth"
- Revelation 21:1-3: "new earth...God Himself will be with them"

The gospel concerns Christ's coming Kingdom on earth, not heaven-going.

**VII. ISRAEL: MODERN STATE VS. BIBLICAL COVENANTS**

*Traditional View*: Modern Israel fulfills all biblical prophecies.
*Biblical Evidence*:
- Jeremiah 31:31: "with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah"
- Ezekiel 37:15-28: Two sticks yet to be reunited
- Romans 9:6: "they are not all Israel who are of Israel"
- Galatians 3:29: "if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed"

Biblical Israel includes all twelve tribes, with specific promises to each.

**CONCLUSION**

Brethren, these are not minor doctrinal differences but fundamental misunderstandings affecting our entire relationship with God. The apostle Paul warned of those who "pervert the gospel of Christ" (Galatians 1:7). Let us therefore:

1. Study the Scriptures daily (2 Timothy 2:15)
2. Prove all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
3. Follow Christ's example of keeping the Father's commandments (John 15:10)
4. Look for His return to establish the Kingdom on earth (Revelation 22:20)

The truth will make us free (John 8:32), but only if we're willing to abandon tradition for Scripture. May God grant us courage to embrace His whole truth.
