The standard narrative surrounding comets relies on an elaborate theoretical framework that transforms simple, empirical pattern recognition into an unfalsifiable deep-space mythos. When historical records are examined objectively, Edmond Halley did not discover the periodic nature of the comet bearing his name by tracking a chunk of ice billions of miles into an unobservable void. Instead, he simply reviewed the historical archives of past sightings, identified an approximate 75 to 76 year recurrence interval across appearances in 1456, 1531, 1607, and 1682, and predicted that the same phenomenon would appear again on schedule. This method is identical to how ancient Babylonian and Chaldean astronomers accurately predicted lunar and solar eclipses for centuries using the Saros cycle, a purely observational arithmetic table that required zero knowledge of heliocentric orbital mechanics, universal gravitation, or an infinite spatial vacuum. In both cases, standard science has taken predictable, cyclical behavior within the sky and retrofitted it with a complex mathematical apparatus designed to validate the existence of deep space.

Astronomers cannot track a comet once it recedes past the visual range of optical and radio telescopes, which occurs relatively close to the plane of the planets. The claim that they know where a comet goes during its decades or centuries of absence is an assertion based entirely on extrapolation. Observers record a tiny arc of the comet's visible trajectory over a few weeks or months, fit that small dataset to a mathematical conic section such as an eccentric ellipse, and then declare that the theoretical curve represents a real physical journey extending billions of miles outward. Every detail beyond the visual limit is purely computer-modeled projection. When mainstream physics encountered the problem that volatile, icy bodies sublimating mass on every solar approach could not survive for the alleged billions of years of the solar system's age, they invented the Oort Cloud. The Oort Cloud has never been photographed, detected, or measured by any instrument; it is an ad-hoc mathematical reservoir invented specifically to rescue the billions-of-years narrative by providing a theoretical storage depot for new comets.

When the mechanics of the mainstream "dirty snowball" hypothesis are subjected to rigorous engineering analysis, the idea that a physical object could maintain a stable, repeatable trajectory over hundreds or thousands of years falls apart under its own physical laws. The primary destabilizing factor is mass loss and the resulting non-gravitational propulsion. According to standard comet theory, as an icy body approaches perihelion, solar radiation causes rapid sublimation of frozen water, carbon monoxide, methane, and volatile compounds. This rapid phase change creates violent, localized outgassing jets that spew hundreds of tons of material per second into the coma and tail.

Orbital mechanics dictate that any asymmetric thrust vector acting on a body in motion will instantly alter its velocity vector, semi-major axis, and orbital period. Because these vents and fissures erupt irregularly on a tumbling, non-spherical body, the resulting non-gravitational forces are inherently chaotic and non-linear. Mainstream astrophysicists readily admit that these "rocket forces" alter comet trajectories, yet they simultaneously claim the comet returns on a reliable schedule across millennia without being deflected into an entirely different path.

The thermal stresses involved in these alleged orbits are equally destructive. A body traveling from the outer reaches of deep space at temperatures near absolute zero, around 20 to 30 Kelvin, and plunging toward the sun experiences an extreme thermal gradient. The surface facing the sun is heated to hundreds of degrees Fahrenheit, while the shaded interior remains deeply frozen. In materials science, cyclic thermal shock of this magnitude across a loose, porous conglomerate of dust and ice causes immediate structural fracturing, stress fissures, and catastrophic mechanical failure. This predictable mechanical degradation is routinely observed when comets unexpectedly fragment, disintegrate, or vanish near perihelion, such as Comet ISON, Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, and Comet ATLAS. A structurally fragile, porous rock subjected to repeated extreme thermal expansion and contraction cycles cannot maintain structural integrity over historical timescales.

The standard model also has to contend with the chaotic multi-body gravitational perturbation problem. In a heliocentric system where massive bodies like Jupiter and Saturn exert enormous gravitational fields, any long-period or short-period comet passing through the solar system must cross these gravitational wells. In classical mechanics, the N-body problem cannot be solved analytically because the cumulative, minute gravitational tugs from multiple orbiting planets create non-linear, chaotic deviations over extended timeframes. Even a minuscule variation in trajectory caused by Jupiter or Saturn would alter an elongated ellipse significantly, causing the comet to either miss its inner-system target entirely, get ejected via a hyperbolic trajectory, or be captured into an interior orbit.

When viewed within the framework of a closed, engineered system enclosed by a firmament, cometary phenomena do not require the impossible physics of a self-propelled, self-repairing ice ball traversing an infinite vacuum. Instead, comets represent periodic, cyclical electromagnetic or luminary events operating on fixed mathematical intervals within the upper vault of the system. The lights in the heavens follow precise, cyclical paths governed by the orderly design of the enclosure, just as the sun, moon, and wandering stars operate on measurable, repetitive clocks. The elaborate narrative of gravitational slingshots, Kuiper belts, and Oort clouds is an intellectual construct built to maintain the illusion of an infinite, unguided cosmos, replacing observable, cyclical order with mathematical fiction.
